Diplomatic dressing has become one of the Duchess of Cambridge"s strong suits so it was no surprise that she would choose a look which sent a suitably charming messages to her hosts as she landed in Poland today.

But in a new chapter in her ways of dressing to flatter the nations she visits, the Duchess recruitedPrincess Charlotte to her missionthis afternoon.The motherand daughter exited the plane together in a duo of looks which cleverly created a sartorial tributeto the red and whitecolours of the Polish flag.

The Duchess continued her recent penchant for pale hues, opting for a whitepeplum coatby her de facto official dresser, Alexander McQueen- the label"s creative director, Sarah Burton was responsible for her wedding dress in 2011 and the pair have worked together ever since.

Thechoicemeant that the Duchesswas also more subtly flying the flag for British fashion with her colour co-ordinated statement.Kate"s new coat is currently in the sale at Net-a-Porter, reduced from ??1,995 to ??798, but is only available in bigger sizes.Kate"s all-white look was accessorised with a ruby pendant necklace, ring and earrings as well as beige heels by Gianvito Rossi.

Meanwhile, two-year Princess Charlotte wore a perfectly co-ordinated and sweetly age-appropriate outfit consisting of a floral patterned red party dress, white socks, red hair bow and red Mary-Jane shoes.

Prince William also offered up his own diplomatic dressing statement with a bright red tie while Prince George was dressed in navy shorts and a checked shirt, a smart but slightly more grown-up look than the very traditional childrenswear which the Cambridges have usually chosen to dress their children in.

Later, the Duchess swapped her toddler-in-red for a scarlettJenny Packhamred box clutch bag which she first wore in Canada, continuing herdiplomatic dressing as she met Poland"s President Andrzej Duda and his wifeAgata Kornhauser-Duda at the Presidential Palace in Warsaw.

Alexander McQueen is the Duchess"s preferred designer for daywear which strikes a smart yet fashion-forward chord.When she landed in India last April, she turned to a paisley printed dress designed by Sarah Burton while a McQueen red and white cotton dress offered an upbeat starting point to last autumn"s tour of Canada.In March, Burton"s tweed black dress proved that British fashion could rise to a cocktail look in the city of chic.

This week will offer up a series of diplomatic dressing opportunities for the Duchess as she carriesout numerous engagements both in Poland and, later in the week, in Germany.

This evening, the British ambassador to Poland will host a birthday party in honour of The Queen which will likely see the Duchess in a glamorous cocktail look.Other fashion moments to look out for come on Thursday when William and Kate will take part in a rowing competition before attending a reception for creative young people in Berlin.

The Duchess has reportedly ordered a white waterfall tailored coat by Polish designerSylwia Romaniuk which is not dissimilar to the McQueen style chosen today.If Kate follows previous foreign tour form, then we can expect to see her mixing pieces from Polish and German labels- another way to offer a diplomatic nod- with UK designs which support the British fashion industry.

And if today"s duo-diplomacy strategy is anything to go by,then we may seePrincess Charlotte wearing red, yellow or, less likely, black for the two appearences which she will make in Germany later in the week.
